On 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th of January Verdi's Requiem will sound in Novosibirsk. One of the greatest masterpieces in the history of music performed by Novosibirsk Choir Chapel (artistic director Igor Yudin) and Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gintaras Rinkevicius, artistic director and chief conductor of the collective. Solo parts will be performed by singers from Russia, Lithuania and Ukraine.

On 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th of January Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra will perform one of the most significant spiritual scores of the XIX century - Verdi's Requiem. This is the only major work, written by the author of numerous operatic masterpieces, in the genre not familiar to him. This work is sustained more in the opera style rather than in the church one. In particular, musicologists note the proximity of Requiem to the score of "Aida".

Solo parts in Requiem will be performed by the international composition of the singers: young and demanded in the West soprano Tatiana Larina (Russia-Germany), soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera mezzo-soprano Jovita Vaškevičiūtė, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine tenor Valentin Dytyuk, soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera bass Nikolai Loskutkin (Russia).

Creating of Requiem is associated with the death of the famous Italian composer Gioachino Rossini. The impetus for the early conclusion of the score was the death of the famous writer Alessandro Manzoni, whom Verdi admired. The first performances of the Requiem were conducted by the author in Milan in 1874, first in the Cathedral of St Mark's, and then in the theater "La Scala".

Performing of such large-scale, requiring a very serious preparatory work for compositions like Verdi's Requiem is traditionally held by the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra in a series of four concerts.

Concerts on 16th and 19th of January will be held in Arnold Kats State Concert Hall, on 15th and 18th of January will be held on the stage of the House of Science SO RAN in Akademgorodok. All performances will take place in the framework of the Orchestra’s subscription cycles.
