On April 24th in Arnold Kats State Concert Hall two concerts of Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra were held under the conduction of Valery Gergiev. The musician came to the stage of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society for the second time in the concert season: his previous performance took place in October. There was a noontime charity performance and also an evening concert, tickets for which were on sale. In both programs Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev performed. Performances were held within the framework of XVI Moscow Easter Festival. The festival is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of Igor Stravinsky.

On April 24th Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society hosted the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of Valery Gergiev for the second time in a season. The collective and maestro gave two concerts on the stage of Arnold Kats State Concert Hall: at 4.30 pm there was a charity performance for gifted children of Novosibirsk and Novosibirsk Region. At 7 pm there was a concert tickets for which were on sale.

“To perform in Novosibirsk is a great pleasure. Some 6-7 years ago I drew the attention of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the fact that there was no concert hall in Novosibirsk, and now there is a new beautiful hall here”, said Valery Gergiev, artistic director of the Moscow Easter Festival. “I came to your city as a 5th year student at the invitation of Arnold Kats and performed with Novosibirsk Orchestra, which is remarkable here. It was during their concerts in Leningrad that I once made a discovery for myself that along with the capital there are other highly professional orchestras in the country, such as Kats Orchestra. It seems to me that cultural exchanges are very useful, and we are more than situated to this with Novosibirsk Orchestra”.

In the framework of XVI Moscow Easter Festival 90 musicians from the Mariinsky Theater arrived in Novosibirsk. The program of the charity concert included Ravel's "Waltz", fragments from music for the ballet "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky and Russian comic scenes in four scenes of "Petrushka" by Stravinsky. In the evening program the Novosibirsk audience heard Richard Strauss's symphonic poem "The Life of a Hero" and Mahler's Fourth Symphony, soloed by Anastasia Kalagina (soprano).

"We are honored to receive Valery Gergiev and the musicians of Mariinsky Theater on our stage. Their performances on the stage of Novosibirsk Philharmonic took place in this concert season for the second time already, it seems to me that this is a sign of a high level of work that our organization shows", says Beibit Mukhamedin, Director General of Novosibirsk Philharmonic. "I want to express my deep gratitude to the Government of Novosibirsk Region and note that without its support this project in Novosibirsk would be impossible. And, of course, it is very important that a charity concert for gifted children took place within the framework of the visit of Mariinsky Theater musicians. I am confident that these performances became a great artistic event for Novosibirsk audience".
