Tomorrow the biggest Siberian jazz festival Sib Jazz Fest will be opened in Novosibirsk
On 20th October the international festival Sib Jazz Fest will be opened in Novosibirsk. Novosibirsk philharmonic will hold the biggest jazz festival in the region for the sixth time. During the three days of the festival nine concerts with the participation of world jazz stars from six countries and the leading Russian performers and jazz collectives of Novosibirsk Philharmonic will be held on the stage of Arnold Kats State Concert Hall.
The program of Sib Jazz Fest festival is a projection of the current moment in the development of world jazz. Both classic and avant-garde jazz and jazz combined with klezmer, hop-hop, contemporary classical music will sound in Novosibirsk.
Sib Jazz Fest is one of the few Russian jazz festivals, which program is composed entirely of foreign-stars performances, who come to the stage both with their own and Novosibirsk collectives. Among the invited artists there is Polish accordion trio Motion, marked by collaboration with Michael Nyman and Krzysztof Penderecki, "Best Dressed Dutch of 2008" according to Esquire saxophonist Benjamin Herman, French trumpeter Stéphane Belmondo, who collaborated with great Chet Baker, hip-hop jazz trio Sax Machine, saxophonist Tony Kofi and his quartet, which will devote its program to Ornette Coleman and other performers. The representative of the concerts is Cyril Moshkov, chief editor of Russia's leading specialized resource Jazz.ru.
The festival program will be completed with jam session - the free form performance, where Novosibirsk and foreign musicians improvise on stage, spontaneously joining together in ensembles.
Internationally renowned jazz collective of Philharmonic – Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band and jazz orchestra "Siberian Dixieland" traditionally will perform together with the stars of the festival.
First time in the history of the Festival in most concerts sound engineers from abroad will work at audio remote control, among them there will be Andreas Adelhofer, who is marked by the cooperation with such stars as Joe Cocker, ZZ Top and Backstreet Boys. A master class, which Andreas Adelhofer will hold for his colleagues from the Siberian region, will be a special event in the program of the festival.
Each day of the festival will present three concerts. Two of them will be on the main stage of Arnold Kats State Concert Hall, the final will be in the Jazz Loft, which perfectly recreates the informal atmosphere of a jazz club.
The organizer of the festival is Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society. Partners of the festival are VTB24, public company Moscow Exchange, jazz club "Truba". Motion Trio concert is supported by Polish Culture Centre in Moscow and Ltd "Bella Siberia" (cosmetics and hygiene products for the whole family).
