Today international festival "Classics" will be opened in Novosibirsk: Ilze Liepa, Moscow orchestra Musica Viva, covers by old instruments

Today, 2nd of December, the International Festival "Classics” will be opened in Novosibirsk. Its program includes performance of Ilze Liepa and stars of Russian ballet, concert of chamber orchestra Musica Viva conducted by Alexander Rudin, and other programs with the participation of both foreign and domestic musicians. The festival will be opened with the program of Novosibirsk premieres.

Today festival “Classics” will be opened with the concert of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, where will be presented Novosibirsk premieres of classic of XX century Sergey Prokofiev and modern composer Vyacheslav Kruglik. The concert program also includes Mussorgsky's cycle "Pictures at an Exhibition".

Soloist of the program is a trumpet player from St. Petersburg Timur Martynov, conductor is Valentin Uryupin, assistant of such conductors as Valery Gergiev and Teodor Currentzis, chief conductor of Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts of the festival “Classics” will last until 8th of December in the halls of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society. This year the project will bring together seven concerts of different genres with the participation of Russian and foreign guest musicians and collectives of the Philharmonic.

"Festival "Classics" was born in 2012 as a project dedicated to the 75thanniversary of Philharmonic, at the same time we have defined its concept. For us, classic is not only music created in a certain historical period. We understand it wider - as something exemplary, perfect, regardless of genre and era. We have briefly formulated it in the slogan of the festival "Art of the highest standard", - says Vladimir Kaluzhsky, artistic director of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society, - It’s remarkable that this year's festival also takes place in significant 80th concert season of Novosibirsk Philharmonic".

On 3rd of December Ilze Liepa and leading soloists of theaters in Moscow and St. Petersburg will present program "Russian Ballet". The same day, the artists of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Andrey Gladkov (baritone) and Aleksey Grebionkin (piano) will perform a program of masterpieces of opera music. On 4th of December the audience will be presented the concert "Vivaldi Rock", in which Latvian group Dagamba will perform original arrangements of both the works of classical music and popular musical themes from saga "Star Wars" and popular series "Game of Thrones". Novosibirsk Philharmonic Ensemble "Markell’s Voices" will participate in this concert.  

On 6th of December Jevgenija Lisicina, organist of the Riga Cathedral, will present a solo program at the Chamber Hall of Philharmonic. Philharmonic artists Lev Terskov (piano) and Dmitry Khramov (timpani) will participate in the program. On 7th of December in the Concert Hall of the Arnold Kats State Concert Hall Estonian pianist Tanel Joamets will perform mystical sonatas of Scriabin.

The festival will end on 8th of December with evening of classical music performed by Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva and its artistic director Alexander Rudin, who will be the soloist in the program as the cello and the piano player.
