September 17 and 18 new artistic director and chief conductor of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra Thomas Sanderling will open 62nd collective’s season

September 17 and 18 Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra opens its 32nd season. World famous maestro Thomas Sanderling, earlier – orchestra’s principal guest conductor, for the first time will perform as an artistic director and chief conductor of the collective. First concerts of the season are traditionally dedicated to the memory of the founder of the orchestra Arnold Kats.

Thomas Sanderling and Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra have been associated for 40 years of close creative cooperation. Thomas Sanderling officially took up his post of Artistic Director and Chief Conductor since mid-August 2017.

 “Arnold Kats achievements cannot be overestimated. He created the orchestra practically from scratch, - said Thomas Sanderling at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the concert season. - We have known each other for a long time. We performed a lot both in the foreign tour and in the homeland of the orchestra in Novosibirsk. We had, as I call it, "developed relations".

Thomas Sanderling noticed there won’t be global changes in the repertoire of the orchestra in the new season. But the premieres and unexpected programs are expected, including ones for the youth.

"I want to cooperate with the public to know their wishes, their interests. Our relations should be confidential so that when we offer them something new, they were sure that it will be a decent level, beautiful music, good compositions," Thomas Sanderling emphasized.

The program for 17 and 18 September includes Concerto for violin and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven and Second Symphony by Sergei Rachmaninov. Soloist Sergey Dogadin is the winner of many international competitions, including the XIV P.I. Tchaikovsky International Competition. Critics call him one of the brightest young performers.

The musician made his debut in 2002 in the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic with the Honored Collective of Russia, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under the direction of Vasily Petrenko.

Sergey Dogadin has cooperated with such world famous orchestras as London Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Nordic Symphony Orchestra, Munich Kammerorchester, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Frankfurter Museum Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and many others. In 2003 the BBC company recorded Glazunov's Violin Concerto by Sergei Dogadin with the Ulster Symphony Orchestra. The musician was honored to play N. Paganini and I. Strauss violins. Currently he’s playing the instrument of the Italian master Giovanni Battista Guadanini of the year 1758.
