Best Dressed Dutch Saxophonist by Esquire magazine performs at Sib Jazz Fest instead Oleg Akkuratov

On 22nd of October Benjamin Herman, one of the leading jazz musicians in the Netherlands, will perform in the program of the international jazz festival of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Sib Jazz Fest. Saxophonist will come on stage with Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band instead of pianist Oleg Akkuratov, whose performance was announced earlier.

On 22nd of October in the program of the international festival Sib Jazz Fest Benjamin Herman will perform with the Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band. Herman is not only one of the leading jazz musicians of the Netherlands, but also one of the most stylish musicians of his country. In 2008 he was named "Best Dressed Dutch" according to Esquire magazine.

"Unfortunately, Oleg Akkuratov cannot take part in the festival program for reasons beyond Philharmonic, - says Beibit Mukhamedin, Director General of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society – The search for the soloist for the Big Band program went in a short time, our employees showed in this process top of their efficiency and professionalism. Benjamin Herman became the sixth candidate proposed to the leader of Big Band and guru of Russian jazz Vladimir Tolkachev. And he became the first person maestro approved. It is unconditional mark of quality and a guarantee of a brilliant performance".

Benjamin Herman is known as a soloist, composer and founder of the experimental ensemble New Cool Collective. He has more than a hundred recodrings. In his performances along with the traditional jazz he is inspired by surf, punk music and free jazz.

Today, Benjamin Herman is known far beyond the jazz world. He has more than fifteen solo albums, prestigious awards and touring routes, covering the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Britain, Canada, England, Ireland, and Japan.

The international festival Sib Jazz Fest will be held in Novosibirsk from 20 to 22 October. Its program has collected all the variety of genres of modern jazz. Among the stars of the Festival there are Tony Kofi Quartet (United Kingdom), Motion Trio (Poland), Amsterdam Klezmer Band (Netherlands), trio "Good Evening" (Russia), Stephan Belmondo Trio (France), Sylvia Howard (United States), the hip-Hopf jazz trio Sax Machine (France), Oleg Akkuratov (Russia). Together with the stars of the festival at the stage there are Philharmonic collectives: Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band and jazz orchestra "Siberian Dixieland". The motto of the festival Sib Jazz Fest is «There is jazz in each of us. Listen to your own!"

The project will be held for the sixth time and for the second time at the new Philharmonic hall – Arnold Kats State Concert Hall, both at the main stage and at jazz loft. First time in the history of the Festival in most concerts sound engineers from abroad will work at audio remote control, among them there will be Andreas Adelhofer, who is marked by the cooperation with such stars as Joe Cocker, ZZ Top and Backstreet Boys.

The organizer of the festival is Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society. Partners of the festival are VTB24, public company Moscow Exchange, jazz club "Truba". Motion Trio concert is supported by Polish Culture Centre in Moscow and Ltd "Bella Siberia" (cosmetics and hygiene products for the whole family).
