Piano duet Gennady Pystin — Dmitry Karpov appeared in 2001. The fist concerts of the duet designated the width of the artistic interests: foreign classical music (Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Liszt), compositions of Russian composers (Rakhmaninov, Rubinstein), modern art, electronic compositions, avant-garde, minimal art (Schnitke, Gavrilin, Reikh, Ekimovsky, Rozenblatte), salon-virtuoso pieces (Strauss, Kalman), jazz compositions (Gershwin, Tsfasman). It seems there is no role, which would be left unnoticed by the musicians. The duet collaborates with orchestras, choirs, chamber ensembles; the academic manner of performance is close to improvisation, instrumental theatre and even happening. The duet works hard searching for its repertoire, makes arrangements and transcriptions for piano ensemble itself.
By the initiative of the musicians, the seventh International festival of piano duets Siberian assemblies was held in 2002.
